“Ricky don’t lose that number”

This was my attempt at painting Rick – 2nd session from monday nights life class. I really enjoyed this study. I tried a new technique of oiling the canvas with linseed oil after the first session. It creates a barrier between the first session and subsequent layers. The advantage is you can create transparent almost glazing effects that can be wiped out back to it’s original underpainting. This is great if you make a mistake or want to try something new as you can wipe it off! Simple but very clever! Sorry for the poor resolution… this is my mobile’s pic! But I like it! Kind of wistful and melancholic.
